winter of soup

Soup's so great. Whoever invented soup was brilliant. Maybe nobody invented it, it just happened, it was the liquid left after you'd thrown a bit of mammoth into a pot and boiled it for five hours? Anyway, it's an amazing thing, and I've been making it a lot recently, the kind of soup my gran likes, leeks and potatoes, or lentils and stuff, or with split peas, or just carrots but with some ginger in it. And you get warm making it too, so it's warming outside and inside. The ergonomical - is that what I mean? - economical, eco friendly, eco-saving or whatever meal. The only problem with soup is once you've chopped all the stuff and boiled it and stirred it for ages and then mashed it and put salt and pepper in and so on, once you've made it and eaten a bit of it and got all warm and cosy on the inside and warm and tired on the outside, you feel like having a bit of chocolate and a cup of tea and then you feel like lying down for a wee snooze.
